About / Artist Statement
MATOX (Nuno de Matos) is a contemporary artist whose work explores the boundaries between writing, drawing, and visual language. His signature practice, Symphographies, transforms writing into rhythm, movement, and autonomous visual structures, bridging asemic writing, calligraffiti, post-graffiti, and gestural abstraction.
Each composition is a direct record of gesture, energy, and time — a writing without words, where meaning dissolves and perception takes the lead. MATOX’s works invite the viewer to experience visual language as movement, rhythm, and spatial tension.
